This 1851 Navy is one in our series of Collector's Classics--the finest replicas in the world! We are pleased to present these unique and exciting historic replicas!  Each Collector's Classic is an exact replica of a real firearm carried by one of the historic legends of the American Frontier.  These non-firing replicas do not fire real or blank ammunition, and cannot be altered to do so.
HISTORY: This elegant engraved piece is an exact (non-firing) reproduction of the Navy revolvers carried by James Bulter "Wild Bill" Hickok.  Hickok became well known as an Army scout during the Civil War.  In fact, his pair of these beautiful revolvers was a gift from a Massachusetts Senator in recognition of his service as a scout for the Union Army during the War Between the States.

Hickock was a staunch abolitionist.  His father's farm in Illinois had been a stop on the Underground Railroad for runaway slaves, and he often defended it against slave hunters.  He was said to have been an excellent shot, even as a boy.  Following the war, he gained fame as a scout, Indian fighter, and lawman. Unlike most such legends, he was widely known as a fast and deadly gunman during his own lifetime.  For more background on Wild Bill Hickock, see Wild Bill Hickock on our companion site, GunClassics.com.
